What is a virtual theatre week?

Virtual theatre weeks are great for building confidence in children, as well as giving children the chance to shine in a virtual performance.

Each day starts and finishes with drama games which will incorporate team building, confidence, vocal and acting skills which, in a highly fun way will ensure that every child is completely happy with the group.

Day 1 all the children walk into the virtual room a little nervous, and not quite sure what to expect, however, at the end of the day they leave with a new set of friends, a script and a part that they will take ownership of and perform in the final performance on the afternoon of day 4.

Each child also has to find their own costume and props… We ask each child NOT to go out and buy something, but to use things that they already have at home that they can transform into something using their imagination.

SO we will…
· Learn a script in 4 days
· Be part of a virtual performance
· Learn singing, acting and dancing
· Gain confidence
· Props and costume excitement!
· Learn new acting and vocal skills
· Learn team building skills

What do parents think of our virtual theatre weeks?

Sam, I just wanted to say an enormous thank you to you, Kelsey and Hannah for this week’s virtual Little Voices theatre week. Elsa is having such a fantastic time, and I have been so impressed by how full of energy and resourcefulness you all are. She is happy and active; loving seeing you all and her friends. The songs and games sound so much fun, and she still gets to follow a script and be part of a show – amazing! For my part, thank you for responsible use of the tech – not only the grown-ups ‘thumbs up’ at the start of each day, but also things like giving them screen breaks (and insisting upon them taking them!). Thank you again, it is a brilliant week! Kate

I just wanted to say that despite the technology hiccups (at our end), Taylor thoroughly enjoyed the Mamma Mia virtual theatre week. It gave her something to look forward to every day and she didn’t seem at all fazed that she was talking to the computer rather than in person. She’s done lots of online lessons & facetimes with friends that it must seem quite normal to her now. Even though her Dad & I were crouched in the corner watching her performance it was easy to forget the circumstances & imagine we were in a theatre. They all seemed so confident and at ease with the muting & unmuting for their scenes! Looking forward to the next one!

They were so cute today. Thank you for shifting the time so I could watch it and my boss was very accommodating. Great job from all of them. Particularly liked the book being passed around. It was so great that you used an innovative way to still run this. Nothing beats them being on stage, but Evelyn still really enjoyed being connected with the other children and playing the inventive games that they all came up with. The teachers have such lovely energy and passion and it just totally rubs off on the kids.
